Welcome to Ablett Architects

Ablett Architects offer an individual service providing an appropriate response to the brief and the site, whether it is a traditional or contemporary solution. We have expertise in preparing condition surveys and quinquennial inspections including formulating long term repair plans. We have an established track record of repairing and conserving buildings from the twelfth to twentieth centuries as well as sensitively adapting existing and historic buildings to suit new uses.

Planning

We can help you prepare a brief and develop the design with you and apply for planning permission and listed building consents.

Ecclesiastical exemption

We are fully conversant of the need to prepare documentation and discuss projects with Diocesan Advisory Committees and with amenity societies and assist parishes in obtaining a Faculty.

Building Regulations

Whether preparing a submission to the local authority or to an approved inspector we will manage the process.

Project Management

We can assemble the design team, obtain fee offers from consultants and advise you on their services. We expect to lead the design team and ensure that the agreed programme for the project is maintained.

Quinquennial surveys

We are experienced in undertaking regular inspections of buildings and providing reports with clearly set out recommendations. We can also work with a quantity surveyor to cost the recommended repair and upgrade works to assist in medium term budgeting.

Detailed design work

Whether an item of joinery, an internal or external alteration or repair, or the design of a new building we’ll undertake the design, obtain quotes or tenders, co-ordinating and leading the design team as appropriate.

Architectual Design Process

At Ablett we make the whole design process very simple

Here are some recent projects for Ablett Architects

The Hall shines in a way which it has never done in living memory: previously invisible details of sculpture and carving can be seen; the magnificent floor seems so in keeping with its surroundings that it is already hard to believe that it replaced ugly cork tiles.

- Giles Mandelbrote, Librarian and Archivist, Lambeth Palace Library

Ablett Architects: Personable, reliable, sensitive to context and environment, with good attention to detail and cost control with contractors.

- Peter Sanders, Chapter Clerk, Portsmouth Cathedral

I just wanted to write to thank you properly for all of your work and expertise in getting St Luke's re-opened. It was a very challenging time, to have arrived in a new parish and have pieces of wood falling from the ceiling, so I was incredibly grateful to have such a safe pair of hands as yourself in which to entrust so much of the work needed to get the church up and running again. Thank you especially for what you did to ensure that it was completed in time for us to be open again by Christmas. We had around 400 for the Christingle service in the afternoon, and over 120 at Midnight Mass - we couldn't have had such wonderful occasions without the building.

- The Rev Peter Godden, Vicar, St Luke's Church, Enfield
